Written by Nicolas Gramlich

 Hello Community,

good news for our United KingdomUK-Users. We could increase the number of UK-Postcodes by a factor of 5, from

Before: 10.336
Now: 53.835

Before we were using PostCode-Data mainly from freethepostcode.org but now, suggested by 'joe' an AndNav.org-Forum-User we are now also using npemap.org.uk.

Best Regards,
Nicolas

0 #9 Gerard 2009-09-24 21:24 Hi,
lots of web pages have post codes with street address. Has anyone written a program to go and collect these.

eg. http://www.applegate.co.uk
has a list of companies with postcodes and many with street address.

0 #8 J Stringer 2009-07-05 15:46 When are you going to also get information from Open Street Map using the addrostcode tag? My postcode has been on there for a month now but still AndNav2 won't pick it up. Quote

0 #7 Nicolas Gramlich 2009-06-21 13:05 Hi Ramsay,

this is/was a problem with the handling of the space-character when calling the url.

Next version has it fixed!!!

Nicolas

In the current version, AndNav will not find RG248YR *or* RG24 8YR. And it's even got a bigger database!

acutally it should be found:
http://www.andnav.org/sys/postcodes/uk_bs_7666/query.php?q=RG24%208YR

(That is the url andnav is using)

I think that it only works if you select the icon without the Union Flag. If you select the one with the flag, it can only match RG24.

If you select the one without the flag, it prompts me almost immediately to autocomplete to RG24 8YR…

Try it! I'm not a nutcase!

0 #4 Joe Palmer 2009-06-14 22:24 This is great news, postcode location data is really useful for us UK users!

There is now an application on the Market called UK Postcode Navigator which converts any UK postcode into a latitude / longitude and lets you navigate there with AndNav!

0 #3 Ramsay Domloge 2009-06-11 11:24 Hmmm… RG24 8YR is definitely in FTPC (http://www.kirit.com/Postcode/UK:/RG24%208YR) but I now cannot find it…

In previous releases, you had to make sure you included the space (after 4) or it would not find it which was a frustrating caveat.

In the current version, AndNav will not find RG248YR *or* RG24 8YR. And it's even got a bigger database!

The best it can do is to suggest RG24 on its own.

Is it me, or has it got worse?
